Regeneration is the process of a sinner becoming a born-again
Christian by a transformation of their spirit through the power of God. It is after such a process that Pastor Bright Kusinyala names him ministry. As director of Regeneration Ministry, James Chimpweya talked to Kusinyala, director of Regeneration Ministry, for an insight.
Give me a brief background to your ministry.

I received my calling from God in 1992 when I was just 12 years old. I was living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with my parents and siblings. My father was a diplomat under the Malawi Congress Party (MCP). The Lord Jesus appeared to me and spoke to me when I was in the bathroom preparing to go to school. He said: “I have chosen you to preach the gospel of salvation to the nations. You will serve me by preaching with signs. I will manifest myself in miracles, signs and wonders as I do with my servant Reinhard Bonke. When the time is right you will serve me.”
In 1994, we returned to Malawi. I was a student at St. Andrews High School and I met a young man by the name of Emmanuel Sachi, now also a pastor. His father was a pastor at Blantyre Christian Centre (BCC), now called Word Alive. He started a fellowship for born-again Christians at school and I joined as a member in 1996. In 1997 I gave my life to Christ publicly at a crusade at Chichiri grounds when an evangelist from Norway, Egon Fork visited.

After that I spent years at different Pentecostal churches under different mentor ships. In April 1998 I was in college and I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I fasted and prayed continuously for the whole of 1998. That was when I discovered the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
In 2002, I came up with the name Regeneration. In 2009, we started with just five people and today we have a weekly attendance of 4 000 people. God has been faithful. I am married to Eurita and we have three beautiful children.

What does the ministry do?
Our ministry is a teaching, healing, deliverance and prophetic ministry.

What is your vision?
To win souls into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ by preaching the gospel in its fullness and demonstrating God’s power to hurting nations. We are interdenominational and are a combination of believers from different churches. We also pursue to train and equip young men and women on winning souls. We are very strict about following the Bible without diverting in its true doctrine.

Have you registered any achievements?
We have reached many people including Muslims. We have made a big impact in Chimwankhunda, Green Corner, Chensomba and other parts of Blantyre. We now have a branch in Manase Kampala, Bvumbwe and we are planning to open other branches in Mzuzu and other parts.

Tell me your prospects?
The time has come for us to launch out on all media. We want to reach not only Malawi, but the whole world. We want to make an impact for Christ to at least two billion people in the next 10 years. We also want people to discover their God-given gifts and talents to impact the world.

What is your comment about ministry in Malawi?
I want to encourage all to preach in truth, with real intentions of serving God and people, but also to stop pulling each other down. It is pastors who pull other pastors down, very devilish indeed. Jesus said the world would know we are his disciples if we love one another. (John 13:35).

Any last words?
The key is faithfulness to God. A pastor who is faithful will obviously do better than an unfaithful one. We also need to accept that God gives people different gifts and callings as in Ephesians 4:11 and 1 Corinthians 12. Instead of being jealous, everyone must discover their God given gifts. n
